About Me
I started out with a Canon DSLR camera in 2005 mostly capturing landscape images from hiking adventures, local waterfalls and some North American hotspots. My love for photography grew as I began to learn all the various settings and from there, my ability improved. My former employer liked some of my pictures so much, they’ve been enlarged, printed on canvas, and hang in the corporate office today.
I slowly began to branch out of my comfort zone of landscape photography and introduce actual real-life people into my shots!
When my Dad turned 70 in 2010, we celebrated with family and friends in his backyard. Of course, I had my trusty camera with me and joyfully snapped away. Back home, I carefully began to choose just the right images to create a hard-covered memory book as his gift. I can still remember my Dad’s joyful and tearful reaction when he opened the book and began to see all the pictures that I had captured. I will always cherish this memory. From there, I have since created many books of the images I have captured for family and friends, including a wedding and a retirement celebration.
I love being able to capture those special moments when people don’t realize my camera is pointing in their direction. Those natural, heart-felt moments in time.
After losing my Dad in 2016, I began to reflect about my career in the corporate world and realized this wasn’t my passion. After careful consideration, and with the support of my loving partner Frank, I embarked on my new journey as a professional photographer! I’ve been enjoying the opportunity to use my new upgraded equipment for an engagement session, a couple of birthday’s, sporting events and recent trips, with more to come.
I look forward to capturing your special moments one day soon!
Here are 5 things about me (just for fun!):
- I go by my middle name – Lorraine. Can you guess my first name?
- I’ve never had a Big Mac (I know, right?)
- I love cooking shows! Can’t get enough of them.
- I’m afraid of heights but for some reason I talk about accomplishing the EdgeWalk at the CN Tower. (Just typing this gives me anxiety)
- The ocean and exploring the underwater world are one of my happy places!
